A second toilet and basin, without a bigger footprint

The challenge

This Somerton Park home had a traditional bathroom layout consisting of a main bathroom with a bath, shower and basin, alongside a separate toilet.

The homeowners wanted to improve the functionality of the home by creating an additional toilet and basin without extending the existing footprint or sacrificing too much usable space.

The solution

Working within the existing layout, the bath was removed to free up valuable space within the main bathroom.

The existing separate toilet room was then redesigned to incorporate a second toilet and a slimline vanity. An outswinging door was incorporated into the design, allowing the available internal space to be used much more effectively.

Careful positioning of the new plumbing fixtures allowed us to create two separate, fully functional spaces, giving the home an additional toilet and hand basin while maintaining a spacious and practical main bathroom.

All required plumbing and drainage alterations were completed to suit the new layout before the new fixtures were installed and fitted off.

The result

What was previously a traditional single-bathroom home now has two separate and much more versatile spaces.

By making a few smart changes to the existing layout (removing the bath, incorporating an outswinging door and selecting a slimline vanity) we were able to dramatically improve the functionality of the home without increasing its footprint.
